About Firefly
Firefly is a specialist technology and digital recruitment business based in Brisbane.
We recruit across technology, digital and transformation, from specialist technical and project roles through to senior technology and business leadership.
Dan Eastwood founded Firefly in 2023 following a career across technology recruitment in Australia and global executive search. His experience includes appointments ranging from Program Managers and Heads of Function through to General Managers, executives and C-suite leaders.
That experience shapes how Firefly works today: understand the role properly, know the market and take the time to find the right person.
Our approach
Not every role needs the same approach.
Some roles need niche technical knowledge and a quick turnaround. Others require deeper market research, particularly when the skill set is difficult to find, the role is senior or the appointment is business-critical.
Where needed, we go beyond active candidates. We research the market, identify relevant people and approach those who may not be actively looking. Sensitive appointments can also be handled discreetly.
Throughout the process, clients get a clear understanding of the market and the people being put forward, while candidates get direct, honest communication and a straightforward experience.
We work with a select group of clients so we can properly understand their business, the role and what success looks like beyond the job description.
That means a more focused search, better conversations with candidates and greater emphasis on getting the appointment right.

Dan founded Firefly to make recruitment straightforward, human and effective.
Dan brings more than a decade of technology recruitment experience and has completed more than 400 placements across his recruitment career. Based in Brisbane, with a strong Queensland technology network, he recruits permanent, contract and senior technology roles, including executive search.
How Dan works
Dan's approach is built around direct communication, strong market knowledge and long-term relationships. He takes the time to understand both the organisation behind the vacancy and the person behind the CV.
Beyond work
Outside recruitment, Dan enjoys spending time with family and being outdoors, particularly camping, and being near the water.
Known to occasionally test his luck with a fishing rod.
